Our Story
Founded as a self-help group to address growing waste challenges in Pangani, the organization began with small-scale waste collection efforts driven by community need. Over time, it expanded its operations and built partnerships that enabled it to improve service delivery and impact.
Today, Pangani Cleaners is part of a transformative initiative under the Strengthening Civil Society Engagement for a Just and Sustainable Urbanization (SCEJU) Project, supported by the European Union. Through the Nakuru Sustainable Solid Waste Empowerment Project, the group is scaling its work by integrating modern systems, enhancing recycling capacity, and empowering waste pickers with skills and resources.
What We Do
We provide integrated waste management services including household waste collection, transportation, sorting, recycling, and environmental clean-up. Our work goes beyond service delivery to include training, capacity building, and community awareness aimed at promoting sustainable waste practices.
By combining practical experience with structured systems, we are building a model that supports both environmental sustainability and economic inclusion.
Our Impact
Our work contributes to cleaner neighbourhoods, improved public health, and increased recycling rates. More importantly, it creates dignified livelihoods for waste pickers by equipping them with skills, protective equipment, and opportunities for growth.
Through partnerships and community engagement, we are helping to build a more resilient and sustainable urban environment in Nakuru.
Our Partners
This project is implemented with support from the European Union under the SCEJU Project, alongside collaboration with local stakeholders and community members. These partnerships enable us to expand our reach, strengthen our systems, and deliver lasting impact.
